Welcome to Cougar Wrestling
Wrestling is a sport that will teach your student about discipline, Confidence, mental toughness, and Sportsmanship. As Coaches we believe that discipline and character are truly important traits in wrestlers, at home and at school. We would like to let parents know that while your student is in the wrestling program they will be held to a strict code of conduct that will require them to act accordingly. Failure to do so will result in consequences during practice or dismissal from the sport. If any issues arise during the season behavioral or otherwise, please feel free to reach out to the coaches.
First there are a few prerequisites your student must meet to participate. GPA is very important; a student may not participate in any sport unless they have at least a 2.0 GPA and no more than 1 U. To keep the Wrestlers GPA up we will be having a mandatory study hall after school until practice starts at 3:30pm. Physicals need to be completed and turned into the coaches before any student can participate in any sports. Wrestlers will also be required to participate in a hydration test.
Hygiene is a must for wrestlers. We require the wresters wear long sleeve shirts and sweatpants because the threat of skin disease can end a wrestler’s season. Skin diseases such as Ring worm, Impetigo, and staph infection are dangerous but can be prevented. We recommend that your wrestler showers before they step on the mat and immediately after, using an antibacterial soap. If a Wrestler finds any skin condition, they are to report it to their coach immediately.
Diet is very important in wrestling. A wrestler that doesn’t stick to clean eating habits will have trouble keeping up with their fellow wrestlers and can risk getting hurt on the mat. We suggest keeping the wrestler on a strict no junk food diet. If your wrestler needs a diet plan please see coaches.
Wrestling has always been a passion of mine; I enjoy putting myself in challenging situations so that I might overcome them. Wrestling has taught me discipline, confidence, mental toughness and sportsmanship some virtues I believe this generation desperately needs. I have had the opportunity to participate in a wrestling program in junior high, High school as well as serve as assistant coach at Weston Ranch for 2 years. In the past two years I have had the opportunity to Coach some amazing wrestlers who have worked so hard that they surpassed their own expectations. On my watch I have seen some amazing wrestling matches that led some of our Cougars to Masters and even State.
